Are you interested in an introduction to chamber music? Do you want to  grow as musician this summer? If you do, then this is the summer  program for you! You will gain chamber-ensemble experience as you  learn to work cooperatively with other musicians at your playing  level. This program will help you develop rehearsal techniques,  musical concepts, and a team approach to ensemble playing. The  two-week session will culminate in a public performance on Thursday,  August 13th at 7:00 p.m. There will be a family dinner prior to the  recital.

Important requirements note for parents and teachers:This program is for students in 7th grade and under who are playing at  least at the level of the end of Suzuki Book 2 or the end of Book 2 of  their school orchestra book. They should be able to read music,  identify and play common flats and sharps, identify and use extended
hand positions comfortably, and be proficient on all four strings.  Cellists should have some introductory shifting experience. A good  grasp of rhythm and intonation is crucial!

If you question whether your child is at the appropriate level to  participate, please call Naomi Welsh (746-9969) before enrolling.  Younger students may also be allowed to participate in this program if  they meet the above requirements.

All students accepted into the program will need to audition for the  directors in order to be placed appropriately into chamber ensembles.  Please prepare a scale (2 octaves) and a solo that best represents  your ability. Auditions will be held Monday, August 3rd at Hughes. You  may come any time between 10:30 and noon for your audition. Please  call if you are unable to audition on the 3rd.
